The nutritional value of Nuts

There is no holiday, gathering with friends, going out for a drink that is not accompanied by a plethora of nuts on the table. Peanuts, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts - and many more - in these cases have their place of honor. What we need to know, however, is that, in addition to being very tasty, nuts also have a very high nutritional value. They are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, proteins, trace elements (magnesium), fiber and vitamins (especially E).

So let's look at the most important of these:

Almonds. In the market, fresh almonds are released in early autumn. Of course, there are also imports that come to our country mainly from America and Spain. It is good to store them in a dry place. They should not be bitter and wrinkled. They have a very high content of vitamin E, polyunsaturated fats and calcium.

Walnuts. Walnuts are known from ancient Greece and Rome. Our own nuts come out in August but we mainly import from China, Moldova, India. They are very rich in plant sterols, they have many antioxidants, magnesium, potassium, iron and vitamin E. But the most important thing for walnuts is their content of vitamin K.

Cashews. Cashews are imported from India and Vietnam. They are rich in protein but also saturated fatty acids (those that raise cholesterol) and therefore should be consumed in moderation.

Pistachios from Aegina. The pistachios of Aegina arrived in Aegina at the beginning of the twentieth century and originate from Central Asia. They are very rich in protein and monounsaturated fatty acids, which help the heart to function properly.

Hazelnuts. They are rich in fatty acids (monounsaturated), proteins, B vitamins and therefore help reduce stress. They have potassium, magnesium, phosphorus.

Stragals. Basically, straws are not exactly nuts. They are cooked chickpeas. It is essentially a complete meal. They contain carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins especially K and C.

Peanuts. Peanuts are imported from South America. They have a very high amount of plant sterols and are very effective in treating cholesterol.
